Privacy Policy
Your documents belong to you. This page explains what stays on your device and what is processed when you make a purchase, contact support or visit this website.
Who is responsible
Daniel Garcia is the developer of Amano and the controller for personal information processed to operate and support the app. Contact: dani@getamano.app.
Your documents
Document files, names, extracted text, folders and expiry dates are stored in an encrypted vault on your iPhone. Amano does not upload your vault to a developer-operated server. Scanning and text recognition run on the device using Apple frameworks. Viewing, exporting and text recognition require local access to decrypted content and may create temporary local files.
Amano stores its encryption key in Apple Keychain, configured for iCloud Keychain synchronization. Device authentication is handled by Apple; Amano does not receive your biometric templates.
Optional iCloud backups and sharing
The public release does not provide document sync or an iCloud backup interface. Development builds may provide an experimental feature that creates an encrypted snapshot in your iCloud storage only when you request it; this is not automatic synchronization. Apple processes iCloud and Keychain data under its own privacy policy. Recovery on a replacement device has not yet been verified in this first version, so keep separate copies of important originals.
When you export or share a document, the destination you choose receives a copy under its own privacy practices. Amano v1 does not include shared family vaults or family invitations.
Contact cards and Event mode
Your contact card, meeting note and optional photo are stored separately from the encrypted document vault in the app’s protected local storage and excluded from device backups. Amano does not upload them to a developer server or send them to RevenueCat. Photos selected or taken for the card are resized and re-encoded without the source photo’s metadata. The QR code contains contact text; a contact file you share can also include your photo.
When you explicitly start Event mode, Apple’s Live Activities display a snapshot of your contact details and QR code on the Lock Screen for the period you choose. Anyone able to view that screen can read or scan the displayed information. The photo and private documents are not included in the Live Activity. You can stop Event mode from the Contact card tab. Editing a card does not recall contact files or QR data someone has already saved.
Reminders, suggestions and watermarked copies
Expiry reminders are scheduled locally and use generic notification text without document names. Suggested names and dates are derived from text recognized on the device and require your confirmation. Document packs reference files already in your vault. Watermark text and density defaults are stored in local preferences; generating a watermarked copy happens on your device and does not change the original. Your chosen sharing destination receives the exported copy.
Purchases and RevenueCat
Apple processes App Store payments. Amano uses RevenueCat to validate purchases, restore access and determine whether Unlimited is unlocked. RevenueCat processes an SDK-generated anonymous app user identifier, purchase history and entitlement information for app functionality and purchase analytics. This identifier is not an account containing your name or email address. Network requests also expose connection information such as an IP address to the receiving service.
Amano does not send document contents, filenames, extracted text, folder names, family relationships or contact details to RevenueCat. Amano does not receive your full payment card details. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy and Apple’s privacy policy for their handling of information.
Permissions and support
Camera, photo access and notifications are used for features you choose, such as scanning, importing and local expiry reminders. You can manage permissions in iOS Settings. If you email support, your email address, message and any attachments are processed to respond. Please avoid sending identity documents or other sensitive attachments.
Amano has no advertising SDK and does not sell your personal information or use it for cross-app advertising.
Why information is processed
Where data protection law applies, purchase validation, unlocking features and requested support are processed to perform our agreement with you. Limited service security and troubleshooting are based on legitimate interests in maintaining a reliable app. Records required by law are processed to meet those obligations. Optional device features are initiated by you and use the relevant iOS permission controls.
Retention and deletion
Your vault remains on your device until removed. In the current version, Recently Deleted is recoverable storage: moving a document there does not permanently erase it, and there is no automatic permanent deletion. Separate originals in Photos or Files and older iCloud snapshots are not deleted when you remove a document from the active vault.
Removing the app can remove local app data but does not guarantee removal of Keychain entries or iCloud backups. Manage iCloud storage separately through Apple’s controls. Contact support if you need help; the developer cannot remotely read or erase your vault.
Purchase records are retained as needed to validate and restore your purchase and meet applicable legal obligations. Support correspondence is retained only as needed to resolve the request and meet applicable recordkeeping obligations. Retention by Apple, RevenueCat and the email provider also follows their respective policies. You can contact us to request deletion of information we control, subject to any required retention.
Service providers and international processing
Apple, RevenueCat, GitHub (website hosting) and the email service used for support process information needed for their services. These services may process information outside your country, including in the United States. Where legally required, transfers must use applicable safeguards such as approved contractual clauses or an adequacy decision. Contact us for information about safeguards relevant to your request.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, restrict processing or object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. Email dani@getamano.app to exercise these rights. We may need proportionate information to verify a request; we will not ask for your vault contents.
You may complain to your local data protection authority, including Spain’s AEPD. Amano does not make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you.
